![]() On Windows Server, version 1803 or newer, or Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Defender Antivirus does not enter passive mode automatically when you install a non-Microsoft antivirus product. Windows Server does not automatically disable Defender or put it into passive mode when a third-party antivirus solution like Sophos Intercept X is installed. Sophos as well, so wonder if for some reason Windows Defender doesn't recognise Sophos - as it should be dormant if other AV solution is in place ![]() Lets hope for fast resolution, 2 server affected so far. ![]() I use Sophos on these systems and I don't see any evidence of malware.ĭoes anyone know about this? I've found some people with as much as 30GB in this folder, but not the issue where it's creating these files so rapidly. I've never seen anything like this before. I didn't make any system changes this week, I have no idea why this suddenly started. This stopped the file creation, but this setting will automatically re-enable at some point. Settings, chose Manage Settings, and turned off real time protection. ![]() I went into Virus and Threat Protection, and under Virus and Threat Protection ![]() On one server there were 900,000 files, I deleted them and it was still creating hundreds of files per second. Investigation found the folderĬ:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Store has hundreds of thousands of files. I have about 15 Windows Server 2019 systems, and a couple of them had zero free space on C: today. ![]()
